On May 17, 2008, in St. Paul, Minnesota, the United States Postal Service will issue a 42–cent commemorative stamp, Minnesota Statehood. The ceremony will be held on the grounds of the Capitol during the Sesquicentennial Festival.
With the issuance of this stamp in 2008, the Postal Service commemorates the 150th year of Minnesota's statehood. The stamp was designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Maryland, and features a photograph by Richard Hamilton Smith of Park Rapids, Minnesota. The photograph shows a view northwest of the city of Winona.
