New Zealand: Children's Health stamp collection

2008 Health

As athletes from around the world gather to compete in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, New Zealand Post applauds the efforts of our young achievers of the future with the 2008 Children’s Health stamp collection. Titled ‘Investing for the Future’, the collection recognises the work of New Zealand’s Children’s Health Camps (Te Puna Whaiora) in transforming children’s lives.

While not every child can grow up to be an Olympic competitor, they all have the right to fulfil their true potential. Te Puna Whaiora helps them to do just that, by providing targeted, solution-focused residential and non-residential programmes and mentoring for children aged five to 12 years whose physical and mental wellbeing is at risk.

50c – Inspire

New Zealand Post supports Te Puna Whaiora with a selection of stamps that include a 10-cent surcharge. We donate the surcharge to Te Puna Whaiora to help it in its work with community-based health, education and welfare agencies and with schools, families and other professionals involved in caring for children and families.

50c – Excel

This Children’s Health collection is closely connected to our Olympic stamps, which pay tribute to the passion, motivation, success and celebrations that are the hallmarks of international sporting achievements. It recognises that with inspiration, excellence and passion, our young people can achieve anything – whatever they do, and wherever in the world their lives take them.

$1.00 – Passion

The Te Puna Whaiora team are passionate about their work and about encouraging passion in the young people in their care. By bringing out the best of them – through offering opportunities to explore and discover their own abilities – they are helping to ensure that lives of adversity are transformed into healthy, fulfilling lifestyles.

The people of our future

Children’s Health: Investing for the Future includes a first day cover, miniature sheet and miniature sheet first day cover.
